Inspired by the burgeoning art scene, close knit community, and natural beauty of Asheville, North Carolina, newgrass turned eclectic jam band Fireside Collective has spent a decade working towards this very pinnacle. Original band members Joe Cicero, guitar, Jesse Iaquinto, mandolin, Tommy Maher, resonator guitar, and Carson White, bass, began playing together in 2014 when Iaquinto gathered the group of bluegrass enthusiasts to back up some of his original songwriting.
When they began touring again after covid, Fireside drew inspiration from jam bands like The Grateful Dead, the group’s agreed upon North Star. There was significantly more improvisation, changing setlists from night to night, and longer musical movements. With the introduction of Michael Tillis on drums in late 2023, the sound expanded to include heavy funk elements as well as classic rock and even ventured into techno and world music. By the end of 2024, Fireside Collective had become a true hybrid, with a strong foundation in bluegrass and folk, and healthy doses of rock n’ roll and funk, all blended together in a unique and colorful amalgam of original music.

About the Musicians: Each member of Father Sun brings their own unique flair to the performances. Janiah Allen holds down the low end on the bass, providing a combination of steady root notes, syncopated rhythms, and melodic fills, adding depth and movement to the music. Janiah’s son, Nyo Allen, offers his exceptional drumming skills, bringing life to Father Sun’s beats and creating a tight, cohesive groove with his father on bass. On lead guitar, Aram Skenderian adds a touch of virtuosity to the mix with tasty solos that complement the rhythmic elements and enhance the overall vibe. The band often invites additional talented musicians for live performances and studio recordings and can be seen backing other reggae artists from outside the region.

Adwela & the Uprising is a touring reggae band. Their first album entitled The Road Less Traveled debuted at #28 on the iTunes with their second album entitled "Ascension" topping 100 charts with their second album entitled at #29. Both projects enjoyed a position on the Billboard Reggae Charts.
Adwela & the Uprising has toured nationally and internationally including Jamaica, Mexico, Australia, Vietnam and Germany . They have also shared the stage, opening for numerous Grammy nominees and winners, including Ziggy Marley, Third World, The Wailers, Akae Beka, Tarrus Riley, Inner Circle, Boyz II Men, and Afroman.

DJ Ruby Star is a Roots Reggae & Dub Selectress, co-owner of Sky High Reggae and operator of mami hi-fi. She has been collecting and spinning tunes since the 90’s. Ruby’s collection spans 80 years of conscious music throughout the African diaspora.
She has opened for Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid and international touring artists Nattali Rize, EarthKry, Zion Train & Mighty Mystic.

A local favorite since 1979 in some form or another, The Rarely Available band is an area group that covers many genres of music (Country, Country Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, 50/60/70 Rock, and Texas swing). This group brings many originals and has a great underground following. They specialize in strong vocals and tight harmony.

Formed in January 2024, the band features Matty Dub on drums, Tommy Noland on baritone electric guitar and mono synth, and Burly on bass. A little rock, a little phunky, jazzy fun. Not your average normies!

Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Buddhagraph Spaceship integrates elements of rock, funk, americana, and jazz fusion through technical improvisation to create a dynamic sound. They are sonic shapeshifters, taking their audiences on a journey through their song’s stories. Guided by melodies and driven by complex rhythms, they create unique soundscapes that are both familiar and raw.
Buddhagraph’s eclectic sound catapults them into a genre-less space, focusing on creating a sensory experience for listeners to lose themselves and in doing so wake up to the world.

You've been asking for some variety and local acts and we heard you! Please come out and support these local artists who will bring their best to the Dogtown stage.
First we'll start out with a local favorite from Outer Space, Buffalo Mountain Brewery and 5 Mile Mountain Distillery, Dan Fox. Dan has focused the last ten years or so on playing stripped down folk style music (sometimes referred to as vaguely folkish alternative rock). He has lived in Southwest Virginia his whole life, playing guitar, singing, and writing songs since he was a teenager. A superb voice and hypnotic acoustic guitar will kick off the night right!
Next, DoublePlusGood will take the stage. DOUBLEPLUSGOOD is the acoustic bluegrass duo of Chris Burgoyne (Timewave Zero) and Wayne Frye, based in Radford, Virginia. Rooted in the classic two-part harmony tradition of the Louvin Brothers and Monroe Brothers, Chris and Wayne deliver tight, close-harmony singing paired with deft acoustic guitar and mandolin interplay. Their repertoire draws from the deep well of traditional bluegrass while reaching forward into the progressive newgrass sound of legendary ensembles such as the Seldom Scene and the Bluegrass Album Band. The result is a performance that feels both timeless and alive—familiar to longtime bluegrass fans yet fresh enough to bring in first-time listeners. Whether playing a listening room, a festival stage, a winery, a brewery tap room, or a private event, DOUBLEPLUSGOOD brings an intimate, acoustic experience that connects directly with audiences. As a duo they offer flexibility of setup, professional sound, and an authentic mountain-music spirit.
Bringing the energy to the dance floor for the end of the evening, a young stand-out Luke King, will come to us with Brett Rader on percussion and Andrew Stanich on the stand up bass.
Luke King is a 17 year old musician from Southwest Virginia with a sound that's honest, real, passionate and well beyond his years.
He plays a mix of country, folk, rock, blues, and Americana, shaping each performance to fit the room. Whether it's a stripped down country song or electrifying rock song, he focuses on making every set genuine and engaging.
His voice is gritty, soulful, and often catches people off guard, making them stop and listen. His sound has drawn comparisons to many of the greats. While as a songwriter he has been touted as a prolific writer.
Still early in his career, he's building a reputation as a dependable performer who respects the roots of the music while adding his own style.
Coyote Rodeo

Coyote Rodeo is an Asheville, North Carolina–based experimental bluegrass band built around the songwriting of John Colby Elswick (guitar/banjo), Chad Brown (mandolin) and Connor Kozlosky (Guitar).
Featuring Jackson Weldon on dobro and pedal steel and Brad Poplin on bass, the band blends deep-rooted tradition with expansive arrangements, improvisation, and modern edge.
With driving rhythms, dynamic live energy, and a sound that stretches beyond the boundaries of acoustic music, Coyote Rodeo is carving out its place in the next wave of bluegrass — equally at home in listening rooms, theaters, and festival fields.
Vicker Switch
Vicker Switch is a high-energy three-piece classic rock band from Pulaski, Virginia, bringing decades of experience and a passion for live music to every performance. Playing crowd favorites spanning the 1960s through the 1990s, the band delivers a fun mix of timeless rock and roll, strong musicianship, and dance-worthy energy. Having played together for more than 35 years, Vicker Switch knows how to keep audiences singing along, dancing, and enjoying a great night out.

The Kind, a Blacksburg based folk-rock band, is familiar to anyone who has passed through the New River Valley in the last forty years. Formed in 1986, The Kind plays in a variety of styles that ranges from classic rock, R&B, and jazz to bluegrass and country; however, the arena which they most frequently blend their diverse influences is their huge melting pot of Grateful Dead covers. Over the years, The Kind has been privileged to perform with the likes of Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna), Rick Danko (The Band), Merle Saunders (The Jerry Garcia Band), The New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Jefferson Airplane. The Kind combines strong lead vocals and harmonies together with intertwining melodies and soulful rhythmic grooves to produce a fun, flowing and danceable experience. They are equally at home in a laid-back acoustic setting or a high-energy electric experience.
Mad Iguanas
The Mad Iguanas are a jam rock band from Salem, VA formed in 2009 by brothers Foster and Daniel Burton. Featuring Henry Lazenby on guitar and Brian McKee on drums, the band blends original music with improvisational influences from the Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic. Their songs are rooted in real life — written about their lives and friends, for their friends. The Mad Iguanas have played stages including FloydFest and The Harvester, bringing soulful jams and hometown energy everywhere they go.

Mountain Walrus plays big energy, high vibing funk rock, sewn tight and jammed out. Foster Burton, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, is a workingman’s rockstar, playing over 100 gigs per year, with Mountain Walrus fast becoming his foremost creative vehicle. Ben Hite, a keyboard wizard who also contributes lead and backing vocals, electrifies the deep grooves. Mason Jennelle blends decades of drumming nuance with backing vocals and a performative style that makes him a show unto himself atop the throne. Daniel Kuder rounds out the rhythm section, amplifying a fresh low end until it shakes. Ryan Ratliff sanctifies the Mountain Walrus sound with saxophone, adding brassy dazzle and seductive mystique. The Joel McGlothlin Quartet brings a night of hard-swinging jazz to Floyd. Through improvisation and musical interaction, the group adds its own modern, high-energy twist to classic material from artists such as Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, and Thelonious Monk. For the performance at Dogtown, Joel McGlothlin (guitar, vocals) and Bobby Gramacy (bass) are joined by Roanoke music-scene staple Ryan Ratliff (saxophone) and drummer Matt Shay (CopyCat Syndrome).

Kerosene Willy is Freestyle Rock ‘n’ Roll Roots Music at its finest. With origins in the jam and blues scene in St. Louis, Kerosene Willy has been churning up grooves for more than a quarter century. Blending Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Funk, and World Beat, the Willy has been doing its “Jam-Band” thing since before there was barely even a term for it.
